Orthotic Devices
Orthotic devices are orthopaedic instruments designed to align, support and /or correct anatomical deformities. They can be used on multiple joints in the body including the foot, ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. They are used to treat various types of injuries such as fractures, joint dislocations and sprains, muscle contractures, or to support weakened structures.
We offer a complete range of orthotic care, seeking the most appropriate solution to match the patient’s needs. A growing number of patients with complex, short or long term conditions and rehabilitative needs rely on this service to enhance their mobility and improve their quality of life.
Some of the orthotic devices that we offer include custom-made foot orthotics; wrist, hand and finger splints; and knee braces. We also offer bespoke moulding and casting of foot orthotics. If one of our therapists feel you may benefit from a more specialised insert, we can arrange a casting session. This will involve one of our Physiotherapists using plaster Paris to take a static moulding of your feet and sending this to a specialised laboratory in order to develop an individual device.
