What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a fast and effective non-invasive treatment modality for soft tissue injuries (muscle, ligament, tendon), that can help us reduce pain and improve functionality without having to undergo more invasive therapies.

Compressed air, creating kinetic energy, passes through the skin and causes oscillations in the tissue. This helps to stimulate metabolic activity and promote healing. Shockwave therapy is an excellent treatment option, especially for chronic conditions which aren’t resolving with standard treatment.

Common conditions treated effectively with shockwave therapy include Achilles tendinopathy, runner’s/jumper’s knee (patellar tendinopathy), tennis and golf elbow (lateral and medial epicondylitis), rotator cuff tendinopathies, Osgood Schlatter’s disease, plantar fascitis, and shin splints to name but a few.
