Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV class

Phase IV constitutes the components of long-term maintenance of lifestyle changes. Once the patient has completed the structured Phase III programme, they can attend our programme.

Patients who benefit from Cardiac Rehabilitation include those with a history of: Myocardial Infarction, Coronary Artery bypass Graft Surgery, Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary intervention or Coronary stenting, current Stable Angina Pectoris, Heart valve repair or replacement, heart transplant and heart failure. Additionally Cardiac Rehabilitation class is suitable for patients who suffer from Long Covid, Diabetes and Obesity.

Our classes will be led by a qualified instructor, who is a member of ICAR (Irish Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation). Additionally, all of our Physiotherapists and Athletic therapists are trained Emergency First Responders.

Each session will consist of warm up to ensure coronary dilation, circuit-based training which will allow patients to work on their individual capacities, not under or over exercising. Each class will end with a cool down to bring heart rate back to its resting state.

Prior to session blood pressure and heart rate will be measured, each patient will wear a heart monitor provided by us and monitored throughout the session. Each week patient’s will be progressed so that they feel an improvement in fatigue and breathlessness levels.
